Interesting. Not new, but interesting.
Seeing the brain’s real-time response to an image, an action, or sound, has been
around for over 20 years.
This simply confirms what neuroscientists have long known, that subconscious
memories are often the strongest memories we have, but not necessarily the ones
we recall when asked to describe them verbally.
But what proper, neuroscience based, brain imaging can do, is tell what images
illicit the strongest emotional response.
They cannot create a memory. They simply unlock a powerful emotion that’s recalls
a memory that’s already been committed to the respondents long-term memory.
It’s by taking these images, and sharing them with the respondent that can lead to
the respondent reliving those memories and all the emotions associated with them.
Having said all that – it’s a very enjoyable film.
